AB de Villiers elucidates his initial impression of Virat Kohli
AB de Villiers was questioned in a podcast with Prakhar Gupta regarding his belief that Kohli was arrogant and confident upon their initial encounter.
The former South African batter concurred with the assertion and stated that Kohli would likely endorse that portrayal of his youthful self.
“He has consistently exhibited a high level of confidence in his cricketing abilities.” Sometimes, it is misinterpreted. This was also the case in my situation. “He appeared hyperconfident,” stated AB de Villiers.
He subsequently elaborated that his initial impression was primarily influenced by Virat Kohli’s confidence. De Villiers stated that the Indian batter consistently demonstrated a strong sense of confidence in his abilities, but this confidence was occasionally misinterpreted as conceit by others. It is always with a lighthearted tone when I say that, but I believe he will concur.
At the age of 19, 20, and 21, he was a young man who was exceedingly self-assured. These were his formative years. This is also essential for achieving significant success. He further stated, “You must have a strong belief in your own capabilities, and you gradually develop the ability to manage this over time.”
AB de Villiers also stated that Virat Kohli’s conduct evolved as he matured and acquired experience. He is of the opinion that the Indian star had a significant amount to prove during the early stages of his career, which is why he appeared to be extra confident.
